Ann HARRIS married James JOHNSON on June 12, 1834 in Jones County. One
local history says they were "both of Clinton." James was a lawyer.
The minister who married them was the minister of the First Presbyterian
Church, Macon, GA. It is possible his parents Peter and Nancy JOHNSON
and his brother and wife Daniel and Catherine JOHNSON may have been in
the area.

James JOHNSON is well documented as he went into politics, served in Congress
1850-1 as a Unionist from Chattahoochee County, Georgia. He sat out the
war and was appointed interim Governor for a few months in 1865. They
raised a large family. Ann's obituary did not name her parents. I believe
that her father may have been Richard Harris, because their first child
was Richard Harris Johnson.

Any hints about the HARRIS or JOHNSON families would be very welcome.
