Middle initial found on Floyd Co. cemetery survey and 1900 Bartow Co.,
GA census. Using the 1850-1900 census records, birthdate ranges from
1816 to 1824. Floyd Co. cemetery survey provided birth and death dates
used at this time. Death location is based on residence of Bartow Co. in
1900 census, two years before death. Susannah Edwards, age 50, is in the
household in 1850 Floyd Co., GA census. This researcher believes she is
Mark's mother.

Previous researchers of this man believe him to be Mark A. Edwards who
served in the 16th GA Inf. and 22nd GA Heavy Artillery (CSA). These
units were out of Jackson Co., GA. After examining the GA CSA records,
GA CSA pension records and the Jackson Co. census records, this
researcher has determined Mark A. Edwards is the son of Gideon Edwards
of Jackson Co., GA.

Mark M. Edwards was a private in the 101st.Regt. GA Militia, 856 Dist.,
Bartow Co., GA. He enlisted 3-5-1862.

Sarah A. Edwards
Using the 1850-1880 census records, birthdate ranges from 1822 to1827.
Floyd Co. cemetery survey provided birth and death dates used at this
time. Death location is based on Bartow Co. residence during 1850-1880
census span.

Sarah A. Edwards' maiden name is currently unknown because no marriage
record for Mark and Sarah Edwards has been located at this time. Per
family lore provided by Mike Edwards (Miami, FL), the marriage probably
took place in SC. Sarah is supposed to have damaged her feet walking the
trails from SC to GA.
