The Doss family in the 1860 Boone Co. census has the wrong parents, James and Elizabeth instead of Philip and Celia. Also, George Washington Doss' siblings had different names, other than a William. Thanks for looking, though. My original research had shown that George Washington Doss was born in Floyd Co. VA, but another look at the RootsWeb World Connect Project also showed that he was born in Floyd Co. KY. That was the reason for my message. Interestingly, the family ended up in Boone Co. VA/WV, which is where my grandmother -- the daughter of America Jane Doss ( G.W. Doss' daughter) and David Halstead was born. A look at the map suggested to me that it might have been easier back then to migrate from Floyd Co. KY to Boone Co. VA/WV rather than from Floyd Co. VA. If anyone can help shed any light on this I would be most appreciative.
