Greetings,Lois,
The pictures which your viewed on the TIGHS website, hang on the
walls of LaSalle High School, located in Defreestville(Troy), N.Y. My uncle
was a scholarship student there and so I made copies of them.
The first picture was labeled 1913...the second picture had no date,
but a told me that he guessed that it was taken circa 1910. In the second
picture, I recognized my uncle, the late John A.Callahan who would have
graduated from there around 1910.I am preety sure that it is he.
The third picture is one that my family has had since my uncle Thomas
Callahan passed away. That, is not, a La Salle portrait, but I am pretty
sure that it was taken at Hillside(an orphanage, located in Troy, around the
turn of the century>)Hillside was run by the same brothers who ran LaSalle,
and you can tell from the clothes on the older man in the center that he was
a brother.
I am hoping that someone like yourself, will see these pictures, and help
us to slowly identify otheres in these photos. My guess is that the
Hillside picture might have been taken circa 1915....but that is just a
guess, based on how old the boys look in that picture, and how old my uncle
Tom would have been at that time. Hope this is a start for you. Mimi
