Geraldine, I just saw your posting. Since you live in Brooklyn, I would
recommend going to the Brooklyn Public Library or the New York Public
Library to check whether they have a copy of the Troy
City directory for the years you need. You might also get in touch with the
Troy Public Library to ask their Reference Librarian to help you. I have
used their copies of the city directory to check on my own family's
residences. If you know where your grandfather lived, I could tell you in
which parish he had lived.

As a retired Senior Librarian in the New York State Library who worked many
years with their genealogical resources, I most heartily recommend you
contact them to help, also. Good luck.

Subject: [NY-TROY-IRISH-GENSOC] Catholic Baptisms Troy

Many years ago I wrote to a number of Catholic Churches in Troy and sent a
donation looking for the Baptism of my grandfather and siblings 1854 thru
1860.
I was quite innocent at that time and thought that there was just one way to

spell Kinney.
Now that I am up to the count of 10 spellings, I would like to try again. My

gr. grandfather was an iron moulder and I imagine as Irish immigrants
1853/53,
they would have been living in a poor part of town.
What churches should I start again with.
Thank you,
Geraldine
