Here's what I found in the 1888 Directory:

Troy/Lansingburgh

Ditmyer, John, clerk, 1939 Sixth av. b. at W.T.

No Thomas Lane, there is a Mary Tracy, Music Teacher, who boards at 15 King.

West Troy/Green Island

Spelled "Ditmire"

Ellen, widow, h. 31 Twenty-first
Frank, laborer, house 2515 Callahan av.
Frank, boards, 31 Twenty-first
James, laborer, boards 31 Twenty-first
John, clerk, boards 31 Twenty-first
Milton, teamster, house 408 Twenty-fourth

There is this Thomas Lane:

Thomas, inspector of canal boats, collector's office, Second av. above
Twenty-fifth, bds. 3 Twenty-fifth
