Hello to the group. I'm so glad I found you folks and I hope you can help me or at least steer me in the right direction.
I'm researching the Perry family of Troy, NY along with John Mulligan, also of Troy.
I was recently in Albany at the state library and came across a microfilm record in the 1855 Troy Census - 4th ward, house 474. There is a Mary Perry living in a girls orphanage - run by Sophial Eastman. Mary is 6 years old. Do any of you know anything about this orphanage? Mary is listed as being born in New York City.

The John Mulligan I'm seeking was born in Troy around 1843. He married Mary Perry and they had a son John Joseph Mulligan who was born in NYC abt 1871.
Thanks for your help. I've been to Troy to do some research and hope to return again.
Thanks,
Eileen from MA
