google the albany county hall of records. their naturalization indexes are on line- I believe that Green Island was Albany county? However some of my west troy (albany county) ancestors did go over to troy to file those papers.

I am a huge admirer of your body of work.Because your expertise is so
apparent to me I wonder if you could give me some advice. I know the
approximate year(either 1888 or 1885) that my grandfather from Green Island
was naturalized. (Census)
My problem is that when I search at the County Court House in Troy, I can
find no evidence of this. Those record books are so heavy, and in such
disorder, that after spending one day there and trying to be systematic in
my research, when I return, the books are already in total disarray again.
I have just about given up on that place.
My question to you, is, is there any other resource that I could avail
myself of? Is there some place in Washington that I could write to?
Thanks for taking the time to read this, and I appreciate anything that you
could say by way of advice . Margaret "Mimi" Coffey Nicotina
