It is interesting that you would mention the Methodist Church. My GG
randmother immigrated to this country as a widow with four daughters. They
were Methodists and I have been at sixes and sevens trying to get
information about them. I have asked Methodists active in their churches and
they looked at me as if they thought I was crazy. I saw a notation in a book
that at some time in Irish history the Methodists and the Presbyterians were
persecuted in Ireland. This was a big surprise to me and that is the only
reference I have ever seen of such persecution. I suspect that it was not
from Catholics because at that time they were busy fleeing religious
persecution themselves.
