“Troy’s civic leaders congratulate themselves on a successful old home
weekend Mayor
Mann says it was perfect weather and record breaking crowds, because "Troy’s
people are so constituted that they make everything a success they
undertake."
When Fred Shafer of Albany cried out that someone was trying to pick his
pocket, patrolmen converged on the scene, arresting Jesse Van Denburgh and Elijah
Cullman Grimshaw.Van Denburgh is free on bail but Grimshaw ,even though
insisting he is a clergymen, remains in jail. Police say he is a criminal with a
national reputation ,but Rev Joseph H.E.Rickard of Third Street Methodist
