Yes, Wholey seems to be the common variation especially in Ireland.
Glad to hear your Hooleys came from Cork because my research indicated
that is where the name occurs most often. Hope I can turn something up
in Cork one day.

My husband's Hooleys are from Kyemore, Parish of Kilmacabea, Co. Cork
and
settled in Little Falls, NY. However, the name was originally spelled
Wholey and pronounced "hwelly".
