“Now that the convention season is over tonight begins the true campaign
season. Spokesmen for Republican,Democrat,Independence and smaller parties will
sweep the city from now until election day making the case for their
candidates. Mayor Elias P. Mann kicks off the Republican campaign by presiding over a
mass meeting at St Joseph’s Hall in South Troy.Even though the country is
recovering from last years financial panic on Wall Street , few blame outgoing
Teddy Roosevelt, who remains one of the most popular men in the country.Mann
introduces William A. Pendergast of Brooklyn, a GOP spokesman who emphasizes
the differences between William Howard Taft and William Jennings Bryant.
Former judge Thomas F. Doherty speaks up for the Republican locals
running,candidates Victor M. Allen and Jarvis P. O’Brien. "
