1909 “The lead suspect in last month’s shooting of May Teson is finally free
on bail following a further delay of his police court hearing, The Record
reports.Teson, the estranged wife of Tracey Teson, was shot through her
bedroom window in Lansingburgh on July 24.Wounded once in the shoulder,Mrs.
Teson still carries the bullet in her body after her discharge from Leonard
Hospital. Doctors determined that the bullet did not threaten her lung as
they initially feared, and that it would cause her no long-term harm.
The victim had been living in the home of Loguen Leandro,where she had
been a housekeeper. Since leaving the hospital, Teson has been staying with
relatives in Cohoes. Leandro was briefly held as a witness to the shooting,
having heard the shots fired, but is not considered a suspect in the
case.Tracey Teson was considered a suspect because he had reportedly threatened May
’s life, but he claimed to have an airtight alibi. That claim is backed up
by the fact that the police dropped their assault charge against him.
That left Giuseppe Scologgio, aka Schlasch, who has remained in jail
without bail since the day of the shooting.He reportedly had a relationship with
May Teson until a few months ago. Like Tracey Teson, he was said to have
threatened May’s life.Scologgio’s hearing is adjourned until August 16 when
his attorney, John P.Judge, tells the court that he isn’t ready to
proceed. District Attorney Abbott H. Jones doesn’t challenge the delay. With the
delay, the court finally sets bail for Scologgio at $2,000. As our evening
edition
goes to press, Scologgio is free on bail, with Giuseppe Esposito acting as
surety.
