“Tomorrow’s Republican Club outing on Baerena Island is expected to have
one of the biggest turnouts in party history, The Record reports, in part
because of the prospect of a showdown between Mayor Elias
P. MANN, and his rivals within the GOP.<<

I really enjoy reading the daily postings of the Troy Record by Joyce. I can just imagine my Grandfather, Frank H Miter, being onboard the excursion boat and politicking with his buddies. He was the Republican Commissioner of Public Safety in the 1930’s. I only know his termination date per the below article from the Watertown Times:

"Troy, Dec. 38 - CP - Mayor Clinton today removed Commissioner of Public Safety Frank H. Miter who would automatically have left the office on midnight Saturday. The action was taken because Commissioner Miter refused to retire Chief of Police John Rohn, and four other members of the department. Fred A. Beck was named in his place and immediately the mayor called a meeting of the pension board and retired the five men. Under the pension Rohn will receive $1,326 a year. If he were forced to take a demotion to sergeant, which the Democrats planned for him after January 1, his salary would only be $1,100 per year."
