I just got back from Ireland and to look at either the 1901 or 1911
census you have to pull the microfilm, very tedious and not always
legible. I was so surprised to get home and find it available on line.
I wonder why they didn't offer on-line search of the census at the
Archives? I only had a few days and could have done so much more had it
been accessible. At least I can look up the 1911 now that I am home. I
will just have to be patient to do the rest of my research on the 1901.
Thanks for the info

Carol, this is from the National Archives site:

1901 Census material, with all data transcribed, will be launched
between
late 2009 and early 2010.

Does anyone know if they are planning to put the 1901 census on line?
