Carol and Pat, our family had the same experience as Carol. We did locate
the town and an ancestor, actually 2, one Malone and one McIntyre. My
cousin went over, went to the town and directly to the Church. After
talking with the priest the priest picked up the phone and called a Malone
relative who came and picked him and his son up.
They later were somewhere in town and mentioned McIntyre and sure enough
someone told them about a McIntyre in town. They went to his home and he
happened to be an amatuer genealogist with notes on scrap paper BUT his
notes matched those of my cousin and we in fact shared Bridget McIntyre who
married John Malone and came settled in Troy.
It was so exciting. The families all stay in touch and have visited back
and forth across the ocean.
