St. Mary's Cemetery, Troy, NY has an abundance of historically
significant gravestones that could provide a wealth of information to
genealogists interested in their Irish ancestry.  Unfortunately, many
are too dirty to read or are broken with pieces laying under sod.



Kelly (O'Connell) Grimaldi, Historian for the cemetery would like to
establish a Gravestone Preservation Committee for the purpose of
restoring and documenting the gravestones memorializing Troy's  early
Irish settlers.  Work on this project is expected to begin in the spring
of next year, however, she would like to hold a few planning meetings
over the winter.  If you would like to serve on the Committee, please
call 463-0134 and ask for the Historian's Office.
