Jeanne, assuming you have access to Ancestry, look at the 1860 census for Albany under O'Keefe and you will find the family of Michael and Mary in the 7th Ward. Ages in census records and death certificates are often incorrect.
According to the 1880 census, Thomas would have been born in 1857, not 1861.
The earlier date makes more sense. The oldest daughter in the 1860 census was born in Michigan and the rest of the children were born in New York. If you think this is a good bet, I would contact St. Mary's in Albany for baptismal records. Those early records are spotty, but you might get the mother's name. Be sure to give the names of all the children and approximate years of birth. Good luck
Lynne

My brick wall is my greatgrandfather Thomas Joseph Keefe. His death certificate indicated he was born in Rensselaer (don't know if it's the city or the county) to father-Michael (who was born in Ireland) and mother-unknown. His birthday is listed as August 15, 1861 and he died in Albany on January 22, 1930. I don't know if he had any siblings.
On December 2nd, 1877 he married Hanora Teresa Morrissey in the basement of Sacred Heart Church (the church was yet to be finished). Hanora
(Hannah) was born in Hibernia on June 5, 1854 (or 1857) and died in Albany on October 26, 1917. Their marriage certificate listed as witnesses a Maurice Morrissey & Catharine Morrissey. Since I know Hannah had a sister Kate, this may be her sister. The record did not include parents' names in their records.
Thomas and Hannah (often listed in census records as Anna) had 8 children
Mary 1878 -
Thomas Joseph 1880-1880
John 1881-1888
Joseph Francis 1884-1951
Mary 1887-1951
Lucy 1889-1890
Maurice Francis 1893-1935 (my Grandfather)
Mary Agnes 1895-1948
Any help would be appreciated!
