My great grand mother was Matilda Alice Osborne (not sure of spelling).
She was born about 1 Feb 1872 at the Pen Oak Community in Liberty Co.
TX.
We do not have a birth certificate. A son took her to get a certificate
later in her life and she told the authorities the date.

She married 12 Feb 1891 in Montgomery Co, TX to John Thomas Collins.
She died 14 June 1941 in Montgomery Co, TX

Her mother was Mary or Margaret Carter had been maried to a Carter. We
do not know her maiden name.

The father of Matilda was an Osborne (not sure of name spelling) He may
have come from Ohio. He supposedly came down the river on a barge or
river boat to Pen Oak. Mary Collins ran an inn and he stayed and they
may have married or just lived together.

That is all I know.
We know there was a flood and everything was wiped out. Both parents
died of spinal meningitis
