Jim,
The short story is that circus man Charles Lee passed through Canton, was
impressed by the hospitality, and ended up buying a house. His circus was
based out of Canton and winter quarters were there. For the most part, many
of the other circus personalities were connected with Lee in one way or
another and some ended up moving there. The Bradford County Historical
Society has perch act equipment that belonged to Francis "Butch" Brann and
Amelia LaPell Brann. I have been considering doing a program on this topic
at BCHS perhaps this year.

Yesterday I was searching thru obits for Wheelers and came across other
obits about circus performers who lived in the Canton PA area. I was reading

about Amelia Lapell Brann and her husband Francis; Caspar and Jeanne Weis
who were performers with Barnum Bailey Circus and had their own midget
troupe. I saw reference on the internet and Joyce's site about Charles Lee
and
Allied Shows. A friend told me that the Howse Family Circus was from around

there too, but haven't researched that.

Just wondering if any other circus people were from Canton and what the
attraction there was? None of these are related to me by the way.
