As Mary stated, there were a lot of Schottlers settling in Wisconsin, but also a number of them migrating from Germany to Baltimore where my ancestors arrived. My g-grandfather moved from Baltimore to the San Francisco area in California, where my grandfather was born and even is reported to have run for Mayor at one time but lost. I cannot match any of the names or dates you mention though, but this is all indicative of the frustration I have run into in researching the Schottler surname. Much of my research has created about as many questions as it has answered. :~(
