Subject: [UK-HISTORY] LOOKUP LIST

Hi folks,
I recently adopted the Lookup-L mailing list but it soon became apparent
that it was no longer needed for the purpose it was originally created
for. It seemed a shame for it to go to waste, so I decided to try using
it for a slightly different purpose.
I am currently compiling an index to Irish research material that is
available on the Internet. Most of the links are to archived mailing
list and message board posts.
This could very easily be extended to include links to information
pertaining to anywhere in the world.
Therefore, I propose to utilise the list in the following way ~
* Any subscriber with resources they are willing to do lookups from
would be invited to post the details to the list. A link to the archived
message will be included on the website.
* Anyone who has, or has knowledge of, a website, where useful
genealogical information is available to search could post brief details
and the URL which would then be included in the index.
* If you know of a Message Board or Mailing list where transcriptions
are, or have been, regularly posted (like Alison Causton's
transcriptions on the Armagh
mailing list) then I will include them in the index.
So, if you feel you could help and would like to be part of this
project, send a new e-mail with the word - subscribe - in the body of
the message to ~
for list mode, or
for digest mode.
Best wishes,
Dave Jassie - (List Administrator)
